You get more dps from the normal paths and having either Str or Dex up. Buffs are just meant to amplify damage further, which you can't do with the faith path if i'm not mistaken. While yes, people may run, its still a nice way to amp the damage. Not all people run away when they see a dmb ...what i've done twice now is make an entirely magic/faith build, 40 int and faith, you'll be able to heal yourself and also use second chance in case anything actually gets close to you. Invest in Intel and magic power and get yuria from 1-3 for Firestorm, which kills everything. Faith builds do not really use damage miracles (there is only one!) in Demons Souls.
